2025 Water Meter Project

BE IN THE KNOW! HERE'S HOW IT WORKS--

Water Meter exchanges will take place between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

Crews will show up and knock on your door. Whether you answer or you don’t, they will check to see if the water meter is running, and if not, crews will change out the meter. If the meter is running, they won’t change out the meter because that will mean there is water on inside the house. If your water meter is not accessible, (behind a locked gate or inaccessible in some other way) they will not change out the meter. Either way, they will leave a door hanger telling the resident that they either DID or DID NOT complete the job and will give further instructions.

Starting in early April 2025, the City of Levelland will begin replacing each water meter across the City. The new meters are equipped with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), which allows the City to automatically and electronically read meters. Once the project is complete, the City will launch a new customer portal, allowing customers to monitor consumption data as provided electronically by the meter on a daily basis.

The City is working with Ameresco and Envocore to replace each meter. The Ameresco and Envocore team members will be properly identified in trucks and uniforms with safety vests or shirts, as pictured below.

Residential meter replacements typically take less than 30 minutes at each location, during which the water to your home or facility will be shut off. The Ameresco team will not have to come inside your home.  All commercial accounts will be scheduled individually with associated owners.

This project is anticipated to take 6 months to complete across the City of Levelland.
